Apple bought and programmed an industrial robot to become its own fall testing machine – to simulate hundreds of different angles of fall on different materials.

The slow-motion video of the phone falling from this special machine shows its frame slightly damaged after impact, but the screen remains intact.
Other demonstrations include a computer-controlled machine that shakes the Vision Pro lens mercilessly. According to Brownlee, its purpose is to mimic vibrations, such as those from a motorbike or underground engine.
While Apple has focused mainly on the ‘unbreakability’ of the devices, Ternus assures that the team is also working on making them easier to repair. But durability is a priority. After all, it’s better to have a smartphone that you never have to fix.
